God is revealed in the Bible. What is the extraordinary evidence in the Bible about the existence of God? What can the Bible teach us about the true God? There is not only scientific evidence about the existence of the real God. But if there is a book that teaches us better about its existence, its nature, and its plan for humanity, it is indeed: The Bible. The Holy Bible is the word of God given to humanity. No other book in this world can speak to us better about God than the Bible. God is the authentic author of the Bible, he revealed himself to humanity through the pages inspired by the Holy Scriptures.
God Is Revealed in the Bible For Us
In the Beginning, God Created the Heavens and the Earth
Take the Holy Bible. Go to the first book of the Holy Scriptures, Genesis. What do you read from the first chapter? Is it not written, “ In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. ” (Genesis 1: 1, King James Version). Does not this Bible verse have your intention? Do not you realize that it answers a fundamental question of the man: Who created this world? Who created me? And who is this creator? The typical answers to these questions reveal a being: God. And, yes, the Creator of the universe and the man. And this being is of course: God. The Bible through this passage from Genesis 1: 1 presents the real God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. How does the real God reveal Himself in the Bible through the biblical account of Creation?
• the Wonderful Creation of God
In the beginning, when God created the world, everything was good. As you read Genesis chapter 1, notice how many times his author repeats the little phrase, ” God saw that it was good.” Proof that all that God created not only was sinless but worked perfectly. Indeed, there was no storm, no famines. God’s world was perfect, and safe from degradation.
The story of creation in the Bible shows with what care and precision God created all things. As you read the biblical chapter on creation, make a list of everything He has created every six days. You will see immediately how his work has gone from one simple stage to another more complex, culminating in the most wonderful of creatures: Man.
We see how creation unfolds gradually and meticulously, in addition to the more complex creative acts of each day.
In Creation, the real God has been revealed to humanity. We have an idea of this God when we examine the creative work of God. But that’s not all. The first chapter of Genesis goes beyond the story of Creation. In this sense, it reveals to us the nature of the creator.
• the Nature of God Revealed in Creation
The name of God is mentioned thirty times. Thus, we can conclude that this chapter not only tells us the origin of the world but also reveals the nature of God. He shows us that God is Almighty and that by His Word He created all things.
No human being, no matter how powerful, has ever made such a demonstration of power. Moreover, this chapter tells us that God is perfect. His works are perfect. He also shows us how God plans and organizes himself. In seeking how the real God has revealed himself to humanity, the story of creation tells us that God is not a distant and untouchable force, but a person. He thinks, plans, loves and watches over his creation.
So far we confirm that the real God has revealed himself to humanity through his creative work of the universe and of humanity. However, I invite you to discover even more how the real God has revealed himself to humanity in the Bible through the fulfillment of the announced prophecies and promises.
The Accomplishment of Promises and Prophecies Announced
One of the most astonishing marks of God’s supernatural power comes from the path of history concerning prophecies. The extraordinary fulfillment of the biblical prophecies is a constant challenge to skeptics. Surprisingly, however, so many people, including secular scholars, simply do not know how biblical prophecies are so remarkably confirmed by known history. The fulfillment of the prophecies unquestionably proves that there is a real and all-powerful God. And, above all the omniscience and omnipotence of God. Isaac Newton, one of the brightest minds of Western civilization, was fascinated by biblical prophecies (Science, August 15, 1997, page 892).
The true God of Scripture literally challenges anyone other than Him to predict what will happen in the future. The prophet Isaiah quotes God saying, “Advocate your cause, […] announce to us the future. Tell what will happen later, so that we know if you are gods; […] Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothingness; it is an abomination to rely on you ” (Isaiah 41: 21-24). Those who study probabilities include the folly of trying to predict, in detail, future events – especially in the areas of political and social science. Nevertheless, the scriptures do so many times, and this happens remarkably. The prophecies occupy nearly a third of the Bible. By fulfilling the promises and biblical prophecies announced, the real God revealed himself to humanity in the Bible. He has demonstrated to a man that he is the one who holds the mystery of mysteries, the secret of secrets, the power of powers, and the science of science. He is not only a God but also a sovereign and supreme God. Nothing escapes his control and his knowledge. This is why the prophet Daniel speaks of the real God as “… Blessed be the name of God, from eternity to eternity, To him, wisdom and strength belong. It is he who changes times and circumstances, who overthrows and establishes kings, who give wisdom to the wise and science to those who have intelligence. He reveals what is deep and hidden, he knows what is in darkness, and the light remains in him. God of my fathers, I glorify you, and I praise you that you have made known to me what we have asked of you, that you have revealed to us the secret of the king. ” (Daniel 2: 20-23).
You Can See Tangible Proof of the Fulfillment of a Prophecy or a Promise
Do you want to see tangible proof of the fulfillment of a prophecy or a promise? The Professor of Theology, Douglas S. Winnail gives us a striking example of the fulfillment of a prophecy found in the book of Ezekiel, which dates from about 600 BC. Ezekiel announces the very different future of two major Phoenician cities: Tire and Sidon. That would be predicted nearly 2500 years ago, which will happen in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Ottawa, London, and Paris. Sidon was to have a bloody history but was to continue to exist (Ezekiel 28: 22-23). In contrast, Ezekiel specifically prophesied that many nations would come against Tire like the waves of the sea (Ezekiel 26: 3). The tire was to be laid bare like the top of a rock (verse 4), its ruins thrown in the midst of the waves (verse 12) were never to be raised again (verse 14). This mighty city, the center of a great merchant empire, was to become an insignificant place where fishermen would cast their nets (verse 5). All this was realized to the letter (see Evidence That Demands to Verdict, McDowell, 1979, Volume 1, pages 274-281). A real God foretold the future in detail long before the events were realized (see Isaiah 46: 9-10).
The Birth, Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Another series of remarkable prophecies concerns predictions about the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These prophecies were recorded many centuries before the birth of Christ. The first two chapters of Matthew mention prophecies that Jesus was to be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), to Bethlehem (Micah 5: 2) Before He died, He was to enter Jerusalem on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9) At His death, His hands and feet were to be pierced (Psalm 22:16) and His garments shared (Psalm 22:18), and David prophesied that the Christ would be resurrected (see Psalm 16:10). The real God of the Bible had predicted specific events that came true – literally!
Prophetic achievements are not, however, limited to ancient history and empires long gone. Other prophecies are being fulfilled. […] The narratives of history, as much as the current world events, absolutely confirm the accuracy of the prophecies of the word of God. The Bible is inspired by an all-powerful supernatural God. The prophecies that it contains are not simply the work of mortal men in trouble to formulate a philosophy or a religion. The fulfillment of the prophetic promises of the Scriptures challenge us – they simply cannot be ignored or unexplained! The God who inspired these prophecies and made them come true can only be real!
Since we touch on the subject of how God revealed himself to humanity in the Bible, let us not lose sight of how the Bible demonstrates God’s existence. Take the case of the answer to prayers.
The Reply of the Real God to the Prayers
God’s promises to answer our prayers are another great proof of His existence. For those who do not believe in God and have never prayed, this remains a matter of doubt and skepticism. However, for those who believe in God and pray, the answer to prayer is one of the strongest personal proofs that God exists. Those who know that their prayers have been answered attach little importance to the doubts of skeptical people.
It is through the Bible that we can learn what to know about prayer; the natural sciences are not able to teach this subject. The scriptures abound with examples of prayers answered. Solomon’s prayer for wisdom was accompanied by additional blessings (1 Kings 3: 5-13). We are told that the prophet ” Elijah was a man of the same nature as us: he prayed earnestly that it should not rain, and there was no rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit “(James 5: 17-18).
Pray, Pray, and Pray
The New Testament recounts many striking examples of answered prayers. Jesus prayed all night to ask God to guide Him, before choosing the twelve apostles who would establish His Church (Luke 6: 12-13). Jesus prayed for hours before walking on water to join the disciples (Matthew 14: 23-25). Lazarus was raised from the dead in response to Jesus’ prayer (John 11: 41-44). When newly born members of the New Testament Church prayed to have the courage to preach the gospel, God confirmed the answer to their request by shaking the building in which they had gathered (Acts 4: 23-31).
The Bible Also Teaches Us How to Pray
We must learn to pray in the same way that a child must learn to walk. His disciples asked Jesus, “ Lord, teach us to pray ” (Luke 11: 1) and He left us a model to follow (Matthew 6: 1-15). From this example, we can see that prayer is a serious conversation with God where we discuss our needs and the issues that concern us – it is not the continual repetition of the same words and sentences (verse 7). God hears the prayers of the righteous – those who seek to obey Him (1 Peter 3:12, 1 John 3:22). The Bible reveals that the prayers of the saints are pleasing to God – like the pleasant smell of incense (Revelation 5: 8).
Jesus encouraged His disciples, saying, “Ask, and they will give you; search, and you will find; knock, and they will open you “(Matthew 7: 7-12). It is a challenge to learn to ask according to the will of God when one learns to pray (1 John 5:14). To understand the divine will, one must study the scriptures – the instruction manual of God. Through prayer, we can talk to God about everything that concerns us.
God Is Revealed, so Talk to God in Your Prayers
If you think your life is empty if you feel isolated and alone, why not talk to God in your prayers? If you can see the nonsense and lack of purpose of our secular and materialistic world, why not kneel in a private place and speak with your Father? If you feel the emptiness and uselessness of organized religion, share your feelings with your Creator, the real God of the universe! Ask Him to lead you to understand the Bible, as well as the true meaning of life. Ask Him to guide you where He works through His Church. Ask Him to help you learn how to live according to His instructions – and you will receive the rewards He gives. Comply with the instructions of Jesus Christ found in Matthew 6: 5-15 and Luke 11: 1- 4. Start praying!
It is possible for you to have proof for yourself by the answer to your prayers made according to the divine instructions. God does not change (Malachi 3: 6). He has answered the prayers in the past, He answers them today, and He will do the same in the future. The Bible clearly states, “ For Jehovah raises his eyes on all the earth, to sustain those whose hearts are whole of him ” (2 Chronicles 16: 9). The answer to prayers is major and personal proof that God is real! Yes, the real God of the Bible is revealed to humanity in prayer.
This is another way in which God has revealed himself to humanity by answering prayers. And so it is today, and it will be so in the future. If you seek God humbly through prayer, He will reveal Himself to you. The real God does not only listen to the prayers of men, but he hears them above all according to his will, manner, and time.
Conclusion on God Is Revealed in the Bible – For Us
Through the biblical story, God has revealed Himself to humanity. The Bible teaches us that there was a time when the world did not exist. Only God existed. The real God, the God of the Bible, is not an absolute force or stranger, but he is a person. He has the knowledge, and he thinks; he has emotions; he is love. This God has decided to reveal himself by creating the world. And this decision marks the beginning of the existence of the world.
To fulfill his promise to redeem us, to show us his will and his plans for the whole of humanity: God chose himself, according to biblical history, a people, a nation: Israel. Through God’s relationship with the Jewish people, we are able to see how God revealed himself to humanity in the Bible. We see a God who only wants the good of his creatures. The true God of the Bible is a merciful, just, holy, wise, good, perfect God.
And through the pages of the history of the Jewish people, the real God shows us the plans he has for the whole of Humanity. By going through the Bible, in a serious study with humility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we learn from day to day which is this wonderful God – what he expects of us – and also the plans of happiness and not of woe he has for us.
God Is Revealed in the Bible and Is Still Acting
Do you know? “ The God of the Bible is not only a historical God. He is still acting. He is still alive. He continues to reveal himself to man both in biblical meditation and in everyday life and especially in the personal life of every human being. I invite you to do this experience, open your heart to God, seek to know him better, study his Word: God will reveal himself to you. God wants to meet you personally. He wants to have an experience with every human being. God wants to act in your life: He asks you to give him permission. God wants to walk with you: He is only waiting for your will. God wants to be your friend: he only asks you for your agreement. Yes, the real God continues to reveal himself to humanity in the Bible, but still outside the Bible. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Thomson Dablemond).
The Bible says that God created the circumstances of our lives in such a way that they urge us to seek Him (Acts 17:26). To those who seek it sincerely, Scripture says that it is close enough to them to find it (verse 27). According to the Apostle Paul, God is a Spirit in whom ” we have life, movement, and being ” (v.28). The Bible is equally clear, however, that we must strive to find God in his own way, not ours. He promises to be found, not by anyone, but by those who recognize the need they have of him and who are willing to put their trust in him rather than in themselves.
” Blessed are those who yearn for the presence of God in their lives. And also, happy those to whom God reveals himself to them by showing them the way to Christ. ” May the name of the true God be blessed with eternity in eternity, Amen!
